SAMTECH presents the release 10 of SAMCEF

Liège, Belgium – March 2004. SAMTECH s.a., the leading European Company for the development of Integrated CAE Solutions, today announces the presentation of the new release 10 of its general-purpose Finite Element Analysis environment SAMCEF, recognized industrial software tool for the linear and the non-linear analysis of structures and the simulation of mechanisms.

With the new version SAMCEF V10, SAMTECH extends again the modeling capabilities of the general-purpose package SAMCEF applicable to numerous fields of expertise: linear and nonlinear structural analyses using the Finite Element Method, static, kinematical and dynamic analyses in mechanics, stationary or transient thermal analyses, coupled thermo-mechanical analyses, mechanisms simulation, composite or metallic materials, fracture mechanics, durability, random vibration, rotor dynamics, cable structures...

The main evolutions of this version concern SAMCEF generic functionalities as well as its “professional” oriented solutions based on SAMCEF, reinforcing SAMTECH position as high level provider of specific application-driven analysis solutions in solid mechanics.

In addition to the continuous improvements of the performances of SAMCEF solvers, numerous developments have also been performed by SAMTECH increasing the functionalities of SAMCEF. Amongst others, one can mention some new features:

  • New modeling capabilities like shell elements for mechanical analysis of very thin structures, circumferential distribution of holes in axi-symmetric models, new shell and pipe elements dedicated to thermal analysis for example;
  • More robust contact algorithms, including facet smoothing techniques;
  • New material behavior laws like material without resistance in compression for example;
  • New loading types like 3D interpolation between thermal and mechanical meshes; adjustment of a pressure field to a given resulting force; mean displacements and forces on a group of nodes...;
  • Increasing of capabilities in the management of SAMCEF Mecano and SAMCEF Thermal calculations like automatic evaluation of first time step size; automatic elimination of redundant kinematical constraints; stop criteria...;
  • Improvement of interfaces between SAMCEF modules like between SAMCEF Mecano/Thermal and  SAMCEF Linear, and between SAMCEF modules and external tools (fluid codes or MATLAB Simulink for example);
  • New functionalities in post-processing like error estimators, MAC matrices...

SAMCEF V10 gives once again to SAMTECH the opportunity to demonstrate to the whole design and analysis community its high level of expertise in Scientific Computation Software development. The main capabilities of the version 10 of SAMCEF are available either for linear or for non-linear analyses. “Customized multi-physics solutions”, like OOFELIE Vibroacoustics and OOFELIE Piezoelectric. OOFELIE is commercialized by Open Engineering, the SAMTECH subsidiary, that allows SAMTECH to be present on the multi-physics design markets and to provide services for the development of original highly coupled analysis solutions covering specific needs.
