AERMACCHI is currently working on the M346 project, which first prototype is undergoing the first flight tests. SAMCEF has been tested and validated successfully for the multi-body analyses of several sub-systems, in dynamic transient conditions. The solution chosen by the Flight Control System Department consists in SAMCEF Field and SAMCEF Mecano Multi-Model, and now considers other applications to which this kind of simulations will certainly provide a huge added value.
The SAMCEF advanced analysis software tools have a great place nearby CATIA environment since the design activities are based on the most advanced equipment and computer-based systems available today and includes CATIA for design.
AERMACCHI uses SAMCEF software to model and analyze the M346 stick/pedals mechanical links, exploiting the full MBS potentiality; future plans are to upgrade the models using the FEA formulation of SAMCEF Mecano which is able to simulate M346 mechanisms, taking into account the flexibility of the structural components, and the fly-by-wire control laws, to obtain a mechatronic simulation of the Flight Control System.
